This week I completed the “Błędne Skały” project and I published it on the subpage http://krzysztofnyrek.pl/skaly I also made a number of corrections to the project “Rozbierz potęgowanie”. At the end of the week, I started a new project, thanks to which you can count the glasses of drunk water.
The “Błędne Skały” project was warmly received by people who saw my post on FB. I’m glad the project was supposed to be informative and I didn’t expect such a reaction. It’s fun to give others something that helps them. The only thing I will improve on this project in the near future is I will replace the Skull Chapel with another recommended attraction that is more suitable for children. Maybe you have an idea?
The new project comes around
The new project “HydroApp” is the first project made solely on the basis of the received layout design and defining what it should do. It is a very interesting experience and a jump into the unknown. Of course, until this jump is done, everything looks beautiful.
During the training, the lecturers show what and how to do it, and even if something doesn’t add up, the community helps quickly. It’s different here. There is a task and no one shows how to do it. You have to sit down by yourself and think about how to arrange elements on the page, how to implement mechanics (JavaScript will be used in this application), and how to scale the project to make it compatible with as many screens and browsers as possible.
At the very beginning, I encountered a big problem with arranging the graphics on the screen. I spent two days in an uneven fight to finally find out that I unnecessarily shredded the SVG graphic into two layers. At the moment, the graphic layer is basically ready. Next week, it’s time to implement JavaScript mechanics.
Home network administrator
As far as non-Front end topics are concerned, recently I have been playing the home network administrator. Apparently, an element not related to the programming of web applications, but on the other hand, finally created pages or applications land on the server.
I’m curious to explore this area with the help of two computers, one virtual machine with a server set up and a router bought on the Allegro for one PLN. On this occasion, I saw palpably how fast time in the IT world is.
Once an object of desire (NETGEAR ADSL DG834 v3 router), which allowed for ultra-fast Internet connectivity, now available for one PLN to play as a home admin 😀
At the moment, I’m learning the basic configuration and at this stage, it turns out that the materials for there are much less learning than, for example, for the frontend.
What’s more, by using the Google browser you are doomed to personalized answers to questions, which doesn’t help. Using DucDuckGo.com is better. I found materials that can be useful to you if you want to see how Deploy to the server can look like. All you need is VirtualBox from Oracle and Linux Server for example Ubuntu Server.
Local home server
The local home server can be run even on one computer. Are you wondering what this fun is for? I have already realized that writing the website code on a computer and transferring the website to the server are two different topics.
Despite the fact that I use Gulp or Live Server locally to test the website, which theoretically imitates the server well, in the case of the “Błędne Skały” project it turned out that after loading the page on the server some graphics didn’t load. Fortunately, the problem was quickly removed, but I would have avoided it completely if I had tested the site on my home server beforehand.

The whole thing, not counting the time needed to download files from the Internet, takes about half an hour. The longest time is to install the server on a virtual machine. The configuration of the ports itself takes a while. We can get to the local server from the terminal. I tested PowerShell in windows and it works fine. The next step is to start HTTP support, but that’s still ahead of me.
I spent seven and a half hours programming this week.
